This High School is Taking a Stand Against the Growing Police State

A school in New York City introduced a new program last week that helps high school students deal with police. East Side Community High School invited representatives from the New York American Civil Liberties Union to conduct hour long workshops over two days.

Candis Tolliver, the NYACLU’s associate director for advocacy, said she visits classrooms upon teacher requests, but this is the first time she has addressed an entire school.

She was welcomed by the East Side Community’s principal, Mark Federman. Mr. Federman told the New York Post:

“We’re not going to candy-coat things — we have a problem in our city that’s affecting young men of color and all of our students.”

Like police across the country, the NYPD has been caught beating, killing, and abusing teenagers.

In fact, Federman commenced the program because students had complained about police harassment. Jason Zaragoza, 18, told the Post that he was recently stopped by police:

“We said we were going home…They said, ‘You’re lying to us — just tell us the truth.’ I was panicking, because I knew they could do anything to me and I can’t help myself.”

Still, Federman maintains he is not against law enforcement:

“It’s not about the police being bad…This isn’t anti-police as much as it’s pro-young people… It’s about what to do when kids are put in a position where they feel powerless and uncomfortable.”

The program advises students to be polite but aware of their rights. It provides pamphlets called “What to Do if You’re Stopped by the Police.” The ACLU teaches that citizens are not required to show identification or consent to a search but not to resist the latter if it is forced. It also shared that it is wise to remain silent when dealing with police. The hour-long workshops emphasized the fourth amendment and how to deal with stop-and-frisk incidents.

Of the program, Zaragoza said:

“[It] helped show me I can have my own defense against policemen who abuse their power.”

It is clear the problem of police brutality is at grotesque proportions when a public schooloften a proponent of “law,” “order,” and “obedience”is educating its students on how to stand up to these very things. Naturally, however, police advocates objected to the program, saying the ACLU is “dolling out criminal defense advice.”

Eugene O’Donnell, former cop and current professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice complained that

“It’s unlikely that a high school student would come away with any other conclusion than the police are a fearful group to be avoided at all costs.”

He said cops were being portrayed as public enemy number one, but given the overwhelming stories of police abuse and murder across the country, many Americans might approve of that portrayal.

Nevertheless, Candis Tolliver said

“This is not about teaching kids how to get away with a crime or being disrespectful…This is about making sure both sides are walking away from the situation safe and in control.”

It is unclear whether or not the NYACLU will expand its educational workshops to other schools. Should they proliferate, they will prove to be a valuable and educational tool that will foster informed and confident citizens.

Obama’s Latest Lie: Secretly Extends US Combat Operations in Afghanistan

By The Rundown Live

S.m. Gibson | TheAntiMedia

“We are bringing our troops home from Afghanistan. And I’ve set a timetable. We will have them all out of there by 2014,” Obama said in Boulder, Colo., in September 2012. “Gov. Romney doesn’t have a timetable. I think he’s wrong. That’s what’s at stake in this election.”

Apparently the President doesn’t know the definition of the word ‘timetable’.

Barack Obama has recently signed an order in secret that authorizes a more expansive role in Afghanistan for the United States military. Instead of pulling troops out of the Middle East as promised, the President has just ensured that the U.S. will be involved in combat at least through 2015.

The quietly signed order gives authorization for American jets, bombers and drones to provide support to Afghan forces on combat missions. In addition, American ground troops will continue to carry out missions against combative forces who oppose the Afghan government.

In May of this year, Obama stated that the U.S. would not have a role in military actions in Afghanistan next year and that remaining American troops would only be left to provide training to Afghan troops and assist in eliminating the “remnants of Al Qaeda.”

Many of the President’s civilian aides opposed the extension by arguing that American lives should not continue being put in harm’s way. Obama’s military aides won the day though by arguing that Afghanistan could become another Iraq if troops were pulled out too hastily.

New Afghan President Ashraf Ghani also reportedly requested that U.S. troops stay in the country through 2015.

Current plans dictate that the U.S. will leave Afghanistan in 2016, leaving only a limited number of troops behind in advisory roles.

It seems like we’ve heard that promise somewhere before though.

Teen Facing Possible Life In Prison For Weed Brownies Says Independent Media Saved Him

By The Rundown Live

Earlier this year, we reported on Jacob Lavoro of Round Rock, Texas’ story; at the time, he was being charged with a first degree felony for selling hash oil brownies. He was set to receive an absolutely insane possible sentence of life in prison for weed brownies.

He is now officially on 7 years deferred probation, and he did not have to serve any time in prison. He believes it’s because of the extensive alternative media coverage of the amount of time he was set to face.

In an interview for The Anti-Media, I asked him to just say whatever he wanted about his case and how he feels about the charges being reduced so drastically, and he said this:

“I feel good about not going to prison. I think all the media pressure I had on my side helped me tremendously. I think if I didn’t have that kinda pressure that they would have been successful in putting me behind bars for quite a while.

I also still think as a first time offender the verdict is still pretty harsh.

I’ve seen rapists get off with less probation. I fully agree with legalization, so this so called justice system can stop ruining young peoples and older peoples lives over something so harmless as weed. Because this is proven so far to continue to hold me back from getting approved in any apartment complex and a lot of private houses even including some jobs.

His charges were reduced to just one second degree felony of 1-4 grams of hash with intent to sell, as opposed to the original charge, where the entire weight of his brownies were counted as pure hash.

This is a victory for Jacob Lavoro, for cannabis and anti-drug war activists all over America. This is also a victory for the Independent Media’s power to influence things as seemingly concrete as legal cases by publicizing injustice to an extreme degree.

We have the power to stand up against injustices like this one, and truly change the outcome by spreading around info, and getting masses of people to comprehend the immorality of a situation.

From Ferguson, to Round Rock Texas, 2014 has proven itself to be a year of empowerment for the people, a year of collectively standing strong in the face of injustice with success.

Please share this good news with as many people as possible, because it’s just such a positive thing. If you shared the articles about Jacob facing up to life in prison before, you made your contribution to his freedom from incarceration, and what you did made a significant difference.

Gluten Isn’t the Only Thing in Wheat Making People Sick

By TheRundownLive

Jonathan Schoenfeld | LiveFreeLiveNatural

More and more people are avoiding wheat products in fear of potential negative health risks from gluten. While abstaining from wheat and other common food products has been beneficial to most, the risk factors don’t derive solely from gluten intolerance’s. In fact, some people in the United States that are normally prone to digestive issues can eat wheat in other areas of the world and suffer no ill affects. So what else is in wheat that is causing so many health issues? How about (glyphosate), the active ingredient in roundup? Image credit: pixabay.com

Dr. Anthony Samsel and Dr. Seneff produced revealing evidence of glyphosate and gluten relationship to many modern health disorders. Their findings are reiterated on mercola.com and Dr. Mercola explains the whole story in the video here.

“Celiac disease is a severe reaction to gluten that primarily affects your gastrointestinal system. Glyphosate has been shown to severely damage your gut flora and cause chronic diseases rooted in gut dysfunction.”

“The use of glyphosate on wheat crops has risen in tandem with the rise in celiac disease. In fact, it correlates to a greater degree than glyphosate usage on corn and soy.”

“According to Dr. Seneff, desiccating4 non-organic wheat crops with glyphosate just before harvest came in vogue about 15 years ago. Interestingly enough, when you expose wheat to a toxic chemical like glyphosate, it actually releases more seeds. “It ‘goes to seed’ as it dies,” Dr. Seneff explains. “At its last gasp, it releases the seed.”

How is there so much roundup in wheat? Wheat farmer, Keith Lewis, reveals that drenching wheat in RoundUp is a common practice among farmers in order to increase production. A wheat field usually ripens unevenly, so in order to gain maximum yield, plants are smothered in RoundUp to insure that all the wheat in the field is evenly ripened. Keith lewis explains the process:

“I have been a wheat farmer for 50 yrs and one wheat production practice that is very common is applying the herbicide Roundup (glyposate) just prior to harvest. Roundup is licensed for preharvest weed control. Monsanto, the manufacturer of Roundup claims that application to plants at over 30% kernel moisture result in roundup uptake by the plant into the kernels. Farmers like this practice because Roundup kills the wheat plant allowing an earlier harvest.”

Because most farmers in the United States are more concerned with production than quality, or are uninformed of the risks, they employ methods that increase yield despite potential side effects. Where is the accountability? Knowing how the system works, its likely that there will be little to no accountability for these harmful products. What is the point in having the EPA, the FDA and all these other regulatory bureaucracies if they don’t recognize that companies like monsanto continue to harm the ecosystem with chemicals like RoundUp?

Robocop Reality: Robotic Police Begin Patrolling Silicon Valley

By TheRundownLive

robocop-620x264

Josh Mur | LiveFreeLiveNatural

A new species of law enforcement has hit the market. 5 foot security robots equipped with 360° camera view, microphones, speakers, thermal sensors, odor detectors, laser scanning, and the ability to monitor pollution in carpets are revving up to patrol Silicon Valley.

In fact, they already are.

These new surveillance drones are called Knightscope K5 Autonomous Data Machines, designed by Knightscope, a robotics company based in Mountain View, CA. As stated in the name, these drones move themselves. They’re designed to patrol specific perimeters, navigate around people, monitor traffic, and monitor “suspicious activity” such as potential break ins and car thefts. Image credit: knightscope.com

In other words, if you’re around one of these bots, somebody is watching and listening to you. While they are currently only being used at one location (the Microsoft campus), businesses are starting to line up for their K5’s, as Knightscope has claimed they have an upwards of 4 dozen clients on wait.

(Related – Meet Knightscope K5, Your New Worst Enemy)

Knightscope says that as of now, these units will be patrolling select malls, offices, neighborhoods, corporate campuses, and college campuses. However, the company predicts that in the future, we will see more of their products patrolling law enforcement agencies, airports, schools, hotels, stadiums, casinos, auto dealerships, seaports, and more.

If we allow this new breed of surveillance to grow, we will without a doubt begin to see different models appearing on street corners. Do we really want to live in a place that has automated drones roaming the street taking heat and odor readings from you? A 5-foot robot feeding video and audio to a stranger watching and listening to me whenever I’m near the unit doesn’t sound too appealing.

Please share this around and write to your local governments stating you do NOT want these drones in your neighborhood. This is the next step in the militarization and dehumanization of America’s police forces. As founding father Benjamin Franklin once said:

“Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”

Obscure Law Has Musician Facing Possible Life in Prison Over Music Album

By TheRundownLive

Jonathan Schoenfeld | LiveFreeLiveNatural

San Diego rapper Brandon Duncan, AKA Tiny Doo, is facing criminal charges because he potentially “benefited” from crimes committed by associated gang members. He is being charged with conspiracy to commit murder simply because prosecutors think that his music sales benefited from murders committed by a gang that he is affiliated with. Prosecutors are not charging him with having anything directly to do with the murders. Image credit: massappeal.com

According to Penal Code 186.22 PC known as the “California Street Terrorism Enforcement and Prevention Act”, “STEP Act”, or as California’s street gang enhancement law, individuals can be arrested even if they have not committed a crime. Sentencing can be as harsh as ‘life in prison’, which is the case regarding Brandon Duncan.

The law states under Penal Code 186.22 (B):

“anyone who commits a felony for the benefit of a gang will receive a mandatory prison sentence . . . in addition and consecutive to the penalty s/he receives for the underlying felony.”

“Depending on the circumstances of the offense, Penal Code 186.22(b) PC could mean an additional two (2) to fifteen (15) years, or even twenty-five (25)-years-to-life, in prison…even if you’re not a gang member, and even if you aren’t the individual who was most directly responsible for committing the underlying felony!”

According to hiphopearly.com, Brandon Duncan is the first person to be tried under this law that was passed in 2000. Brandon Duncan has no criminal record and just found out he will be taken to trial.

#Breaking: Rapper Tiny Doo bound over for trial; charged in 9 shootings for cutting #rap album about #gang violence @10news #SanDiego

— Michael Chen (@10NewsChen) November 17, 2014

Many are outraged and are questioning whether this could violate constitutional rights. Duncan’s attorney Brian Watkins had this to say:

“It’s shocking. He has no criminal record. Nothing in his lyrics say go out and commit a crime. Nothing in his lyrics reference these shootings, yet they are holding him liable for conspiracy. There are huge constitutional issues,”

Alex Kreit, professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law shares similar views as Watkins.

“Where does that end if that’s the definition of criminal liability? Is Martin Scorsese going to be prosecuted if he meets with mafia members for a movie for his next film?” said Kreit. “The Constitution says it can’t be a crime to simply make gangster rap songs and hang out with people that are committing crimes. You have to have more involvement than that.”

Just another example of worrying about the small fish while the big fish roam free…check out the video below for more information on Californians “gang enhancement” law.

A Complete Guide To Being A Thought Criminal

By The Rundown Live

CompleteGuide

Justin King | TheAntiMedia

A question posed by a reader has kept my mind churning ever since it was asked. The question itself was genuine and expressed a desire to change the world for the better, but hinted that he was resigned to the fact that it would get worse before it gets better. This is probably the driest article I have ever written, but it may prove to be the most important. It started as a simple list, but grew as I realized the subject matter deserved better treatment than typical guerrilla journalism provides. What started as a simple hit and run piece developed into a guide for thought criminals.

The question:

I have just recently opened my eyes to what’s actually going on in our world and especially our country. Had I known then what I know now I wouldn’t have children. That being said, I have 3 kids a wife and an income that we barely survive on. I have a feeling that something bad is coming and myself spending so many years just ignoring the signs and living like the government intended me to ( barely making it and struggling). Is there anything someone in my situation can do to first off prepare for impeding martial law and complete chaos? Or at the very least help inform more people and hope they open their eyes.

Waking up is a painful process, and once awake, you begin to see the world for what it is. It’s shocking how much everything begins to look like a movie set made entirely of cheap facades lacking any real depth. You recognize the current system of consumerism is unsustainable and you want to know how you can stop what you know is coming one day.

Even though nothing you do to prepare or fight back is illegal, you find yourself feeling like you are in the midst of a conspiracy against the powers that be. That’s because you are. Rebellion isn’t done with bullets and bombs anymore; it’s done within the confines of your own mind. When you wake up, you essentially become a thought criminal, never really knowing who you can talk to about your thoughts. You know that most of your daily contacts haven’t seen the system for what it is. They are still just comfortable enough to not care as long as they have their YouTube videos of cats and #SelfieSaturday. Out of fear of being seen as a tinfoil hat wearing lunatic, you remain silent with your thoughts and observations until you link up with others engaged in the criminal conspiracy of thought.

Like a true criminal conspiracy, you determine your own level of involvement with the plot. Are you an active participant, placing your name, livelihood, reputation, and family at risk? Are you an open supporter, using your social media accounts to awaken others and suffering the ridicule and conflict that comes with that? Are you a clandestine supporter, following the right pages that allow you to pilfer away little bits of information but never commenting or sharing for fear of being discovered as a thought criminal? Or are you a sympathizer who knows what’s going on, but will swear allegiance to whatever flag is offered to preserve a normal home life until “the time comes?” The depths and reach of this conspiracy of thought go deeper than anyone can imagine and only you can determine how far you are willing to go.

On any budget and any level of involvement there are things that people can do to help awaken others. There are also steps that anyone can take to help protect themselves in the event that the enterprise of saving the world from itself fails and everything falls apart. I couldn’t even guess which is more likely. Maybe those working so hard to bring about change for the better are really just prolonging the inevitable.

Waking People Up:

Social Media: If you choose to become active in waking people up, your social media accounts are the most important weapons in your arsenal. Many mock the “armchair activists,” but the retweets, shares, likes, and comments generated by those that can’t make it to real world demonstrations increase the likelihood that the posts are shown to others, increasing the visibility of the movement and the likelihood of waking others up. If you can’t stand the heat of posting these things from your real account, set up an alternate account and use that to connect with like-minded individuals.

When sharing articles that question people’s closely held beliefs, it is important to remember the truth is never told to somebody, the truth is realized by an individual in their own time. You will never convince a CNN or Fox News viewer that the war in Syria against ISIS was completely manufactured to help defense contractors turn a quick buck, even with all of the evidence. If your intent is to wake more people up, it is better to start by planting the seeds of dissent in their mind with articles that ever so slightly deviate from the traditional narrative. These articles should link to sources they are familiar with. Once those first questions develop in the person’s mind, they will do the same thing we all did and research on their own to discover the truth for themselves. A good place to start is the funding of political candidates. All of the records are publicly available and it’s quick and easy to see that the highest office in the land is bought and paid for. Another good place to start is historical examples of major deceptions by the government against the people. Sometimes past performance does predict future results. Identifying these things as real can be the beginning of the awakening process. Your task in waking someone up isn’t to make them think like you, it’s to simply make them think.

Real World Conversation: All of the same rules apply, except that unless you’re going to pull out your smartphone, you don’t have immediately accessible facts and data to back up your statements. This is where you have to be even more careful about easing someone into the movement. An immediate jump to the subject of the US plan to kill a bunch of Americans and blame it on the Cubans sounds too crazy to be true, if you don’t have the Northwoods documents on your screen. Start slow. Ease into things the other person is familiar with first and give them a slightly different viewpoint. Once you can make a person step just a little out of line, all of the indoctrination begins to slip away.

It’s important to not become too impassioned. The fact is that in today’s world, people view passionate people that are talking about anything other than sports, celebrities, or which political party they prefer to be robbed by as crazy. Remember the average American cares only about the pebble in their shoe or other things that affect them directly. They don’t care, so they will wonder why you do.

Don’t make it sound like a conspiracy or a secret. People will write you off as a nut job. Just hand them the nuts and bolts of things they can grasp easily and let them ask about the darker and more esoteric knowledge.

Protesting: There is a love-hate relationship that many possess with demonstrations. Mass demonstrations are good for bringing attention to the cause, but rarely accomplish anything without some form of civil disobedience being rolled into the protest. Even protests without civil disobedience have their uses though.

For that one day, you know you are not actually alone in the fight. Sometimes it certainly feels that way until you build a network of like-minded activists. That protest can serve to reenergize people who are on the verge of burning out, it allows people to network and to gain experience from each other.

Most importantly, taking off to go to a protest shows your level of commitment. It demonstrates it to others who may be teetering on the fence and need to see someone else taking that step towards change in order to make the move themselves. More importantly, it shows you how committed you are. It lets you know that you really are willing to get off your ass and get in the fight, even if in a very passive role.

“I don’t speak to change other’s minds. I speak to let others who already think like me know they are not alone.”

Illegal Activity: There are always those that are willing to take some form of direct action beyond traditional civil disobedience. Obviously, we are talking about nonviolent activities that blur the line between civil disobedience and direct action. Advocating any illegal activity for political ends is illegal, so of course, I’m saying don’t do it. However, historical examples of people who engaged in illegal activity to bring about real societal change are everywhere.

My personal favorite, for obvious reason to those who know me well, is Harriet Tubman. She risked life and limb to bring people to freedom. Her activities were highly illegal and she most likely would have been killed had they been discovered. Her case best exemplifies the old adage that

“The path to freedom is not always a legal one.”

Be Prepared

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Many of us know, not think, but know that if things don’t change, the world will suffer a reset as it has in the past when great empires fell. People want to be ready, but don’t want to go off into full-blown survivalist mode and don’t want to go into debt doing it. The key thing to remember is that civil unrest in the United States will be much like civil unrest anywhere else in the world. The US will not be a special case.

These little pointers are not intended for those who are planning on living for decades in some post apocalyptic world. This is more for those who see a collapse as something that will eventually correct itself, people who believe a downturn will send the country into a state more similar to Bosnia during the Balkans War than scenes from Thunderdome.

Knowledge: Without electricity, people do not have access to the same base of knowledge that they have become accustomed to. Assume there will be no access to Google and no E-books. Real books that do not require electricity are important. A first aid book, a survival guide, an encyclopedia, should be available on the book shelf of anyone who is worried about a societal reset. Obviously, this is just a starting place before you head down the rabbit hole.

While the entire country has become obsessed with geotagging and GPS, what good will the satellites be if you can’t charge your phone? Paper maps of the area you are likely to be in should be available.

For those on a budget, all of the above can be purchased at local thrift stores for less than $15 dollars.

Necessities: You should have a couple of weeks worth of food, water, and medicine on hand. Many are living paycheck to paycheck and the idea of being able to store away weeks worth of food seems impossible. First it is important to remember that we aren’t talking about enough for full meals, we are talking about enough to survive until the most severe fighting is done. Canned food that can be eaten cold if necessary is inexpensive and is nutritious enough to keep you and your loved ones going. Save old milk jugs and bottle your own water reserves.

Medicine can get expensive, but it may be the most important. If a loved one requires certain medications to survive, maintaining at least a thirty days supply is imperative. Hospitals become trauma centers during periods of insurrection, widespread violence, or civil war. Whatever scenario you imagine, the medicine you need will probably not be available through normal channels.

As far as the desire to purchase antibiotics and have them on your shelves “just in case” is one many possess but they can’t get doctors to write prescriptions for full cycles of antibiotics just so they can store them. It might be worth noting that the antibiotics you need a prescription to obtain are available at most pet stores over the counter. To an antibiotic, a mammal is mammal. In some cases, the same antibiotics you take are given to fish. Obviously, I’m not a doctor and you shouldn’t take medical advice from me.

Weapons: The ultimate discussion in civil unrest scenarios seems to revolve around what weapons a person should obtain. There are countless websites devoted to discussing the age old question of whether it is better to be in a firefight while armed with an AK-style rifle or an AR-15. From long experience, I can say definitively that the best weapon to use in a firefight is the one you happen to have with you when the shooting starts. Even better than being in a firefight with your weapon is not being in a firefight at all. The other thing that can be learned through history is that in times of civil unrest there will be shortages of water, food, medicine, gasoline, toilet paper, and pretty much everything else… except weapons. Weapons are always in plentiful supply in a warzone.

In any debate over what weapon is the right weapon to have, the reader must begin by accepting the fact that a firearm is a tool and every tool has a different purpose. Handguns, rifles, carbines, sub machine guns, shotguns, precision rifles, and small caliber rifles all have very different roles and uses. Picking the right weapon for all scenarios is impossible. It’s like trying to build a house using only a hammer. So unless someone was willing to spend several thousand dollars to obtain a weapon in all of the above classes, there is no point in discussing which is best in each category.

If a person decides to purchase a weapon, they should pick a firearm that accepts ammunition that is used by military and police forces in their home country to increase the likelihood of being able to find more ammunition in the street.

If you read this section, the odds are that you are not militarily trained to the point where you will not be hoping of doing anything with a firearm other than protecting yourself and your family. Stay at home, stay indoors, and stay out of any fighting if possible.

Plan: It’s important to have a plan. Work out ahead of time where you will stay, how you will shelter and fortify yourself, and who you will be with. Stick to your plan and stay safe.

I hope that answered the question fully and I hope that others find it useful. The future is ours to make.

90 Percent of Americans are Poorer Today than they were in 1987

By TheRundownLive

rich-poor-620x264

Cassius Methyl | LiveFreeLiveNatural

A study from the National Bureau of Economic Research as well as an admission from none other than the Chairwoman of the Federal Reserve recently indicated that 90% of Americans in 2014 are poorer today than in 1987. Image credit: Flickr.com

A Washington Post article on the ‘Wonkblog’ section actually broke down the study, and said “The new, harsh reality is that the bottom 90 percent of households are poorer today than they were in 1987,” and “It’s been a lost 25 years for the bottom 90 percent, but a lost 15 for the next 9 percent, too. That’s right: altogether, the bottom 99 percent are worth less today than they were in 1998.”

The info from the chairwoman was presented less boldly than to simply admit that the dollar is inflated beyond repair, and it was phrased to imply that the value of the dollar will continue to improve from the 2008 recession.

Federal Reserve Board Chairwoman Janet Yellen spoke at a conference called the ‘Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Economic Conference on Inequality of Economic Opportunity’ last month, presenting the statistics in a much less dramatic sounding way. She said,

“The wealthiest five percent of American households held 54 percent of all wealth reported in the 1989 survey. Their share rose to 61 percent in 2010 and reached 63 percent in 2013,” she said. “By contrast, the rest of those in the top half of the wealth distribution ‒ families that in 2013 had a net worth between $81,000 and $1.9 million ‒ held 43 percent of wealth in 1989 and only 36 percent in 2013.”

“The extent and continuing increase in inequality in the United States greatly concern me,” she noted. “I think it is appropriate to ask whether this trend is compatible with values rooted in our nation’s history, among them the high value Americans have traditionally placed on equality of opportunity.”

People such as Karim Basta, chief economist at III Associates, praised the Fed chairwoman in a seemingly not very effective attempt to gloss over the problems of the inflated dollar. She said “I think she broke new ground in terms of a Fed chair looking at such a serious socioeconomic issue with that degree of rigor,”.

However, a baby step towards something slightly resembling honesty coming from the fed is ultimately insignificant in the larger scope of things. Whether or not they recognize the increasing devaluing of the dollar and the wealth disparity in America is irrelevant, because they continue to inflate the dollar to avoid the consequences of The Federal Reserve’s previous actions, and all of that inflation has to catch up with us some day.

Meanwhile, as Zero Hedge reports, the stock market continues to set record after record as the number homeless children reaches an all-time high.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average now stands at 17,633, just off its all-time high.

Also near its all-time highs is the bond market, and coincidentally, the US debt—which is now within spitting distance of $18 trillion.

In other words, if these kids ever do manage to pick themselves up off the streets, they’ll work their entire lives to pay off a debt that they never signed up for.

And it all comes down to a completely perverse, corrupt, debt-based paper money system.

Please share this with anyone who could use some perspective on our economic situation with the dollar.

Scientists with Stanford University and Google have developed two new artificially intelligent software programs capable of describing images with near human-level accuracy.

Stanford software analyzing individual items

Stanford’s research paper, entitled “Deep Visual-Semantic Alignments for Generating Image Descriptions,” explains how specific details found in photographs and videos can be translated into written text.

“We present a model that generates free-form natural language descriptions of image regions,” the paper’s abstract states. “Our model leverages datasets of images and their sentence descriptions to learn about the inter-modal correspondences between text and visual data.”

When comparing the software’s descriptions to that of humans, researchers found that both often expressed similar comprehension.

Artificial intelligence software creating picture captions

Google’s version of the technology, presented in the “Show and Tell: A Neural Image Caption Generator” research paper, was able to produce comparable results.

Although the program struggled when presented with an entirely new set of images, Google scientists noted the software’s ability to “learn” from each new interaction.

Google software learning from its mistakesGoogle software learning from its mistakes

“I was amazed that even with the small amount of training data that we were able to do so well,” Google computer scientist Oriol Vinyals told the New York Times.

Billions of videos and images posted online will likely be analyzed and tabulated by Google once the technology is perfected, allowing real-time cataloging as media is uploaded to the Internet.

“The field is just starting, and we will see a lot of increases,” Vinyals added.

Although Google scientists noted the possible uses for the visually impaired, the company’s deep ties with the U.S. surveillance state will likely dictate the software’s final application.

As Google quickly becomes one of the most powerful lobbyist groups in Washington D.C., many note the technology’s potential for censoring data even before it has a chance to be uploaded to the web.

Google’s history of censoring political content has been long documented, with infamous videos such as the WikiLeaks helicopter gunship footage being removed from the Alex Jones’ YouTube channel in 2010.

In fact, Google has complied with thousands of requests from governments across the globe to censor and remove content despite no clear violations in many of the cases.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, a campaign adviser and major Barack Obama donor, has publicly stated his disdain for human privacy on multiple occasions as well.

“We don’t need you to type at all. We know where you are. We know where you’ve been. We can more or less know what you’re thinking about,” Schmidt said in 2010. “We know everything you’re doing and the government can track you. We will know your position down to the foot and down to the inch over time.”

Whether it’s pushing customers to put microphones in their ceilings, participating in the NSA’s PRISM program, or scanning every private Gmail account, the tech giant will undoubtedly continue to wield its state-backed power over millions of web users worldwide.
