The Number Of People Who Overdosed On Marijuana Last Year Will Likely Surprise You…

*Hint* It’s substantially lower than the death toll caused by prescription drugs and alcohol.

Every year, thousands of people die from overdosing on legal and illicit drugs. According to CDC figures, in the last year, 25,760 people died from overdosing on pharmaceutical drugs (including painkillers and tranquilizers like Valium), and 17,465 died from overdosing on illicit drugs, such as heroin and cocaine.

Yes, there’s a problem, but it’s not the one you’re thinking of.

While it’s considered ‘normal’ for an individual to be on a variety of medications to tame their health conditions, it’s still incredibly taboo for one to remedy their illness(es) with medical marijuana.

Perhaps that’s because the FDA still classifies it as a “drug with no medicinal purpose,” though countless anecdotes have proven otherwise.

And get this: in the last year, there have been absolutely zero deaths from overdosing on marijuana.

In fact, that statistic was zero the year before, as well!

Credit: CDC

Credit: CDC

The same can’t be said for pharmaceutical drugs. According to figures released by the CDC earlier this month, opioid overdose levels rose a shocking 14% between 2013 and 2014.

“More persons died from drug overdoses in the United States in 2014 than during any previous year on record,” the CDC reported.

Alcohol, too, is killing Americans at an unprecedented rate. According to a Washington Post analysis of federal data, more than 30,700 Americans passed away from alcohol-induced causes last year. This data does not include the alcohol-related deaths like drunk driving or accidents. If it did, you can bet the death toll would be more than two and a half times higher, reports The Huffington Post.

Credit: CDC

Credit: CDC

The report continues:

“Drinking a mere 10 times the normal amount of alcohol within 5 or 10 minutes can prove fatal, whereas smoking or eating marijuana might require something like 1,000 times the usual dose to cause death. “

Of course, any substance can be abused. It’s all about regulation – which has proven to be very beneficial for economies that have legalized the recreational use of cannabis. Colorado, for example, was able to give $3.4 million to schools after making $34 million in one month. In addition, crime reduced by 15%.

At present, marijuana is now mostly legal in some form in 23 states. As it is a much safer substance than alcohol and pharmaceutical drugs, this is bound to change – it has to.

Market For Plant-based Substitutes Expected To Surpass $5 Billion By 2020

By The Rundown Live

Amanda Froelich | TrueActivist

According to a report released in August, the faux ‘meat’ industry is expected to reach $5.17 billion by 2020. …That’s a lot of veggie burgers!

The future is green. At least, that’s what a new report is projecting.

According to Markets and Markets, the faux meat industry will increase to $5.17 billion by the year 2020. Specifically, it’s expected to grow at a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 6.4% between 2015 and 2020.

The report release reads:

“The growing demand for meat-free food products and increasing health concerns are expected to drive the market for meat substitutes globally. In addition to this, key factors such as increase in adoption rate of vegan & vegetarian diet and increasing health concerns for pets, increasing environmental issues, and presence of modernized retail chain in emerging markets are projected to support the growth in the meat substitutes market in the forthcoming years.”

The report covers tofu and tofu ingredients, tempeh, textured vegetable protein (TVP), Quorn, other soy products, and seitan, among others, shares Latest Vegan News.

No surprise, the companies at the forefront in the U.S. are: Amy’s Kitchen (which opened an organic drive-thru restaurant earlier this year), Beyond Meat, and MGP Ingredients.

In India, the leading company is Sonic Biochem Extractions Limited, and in Canada, Garden Protein International Inc. (makers or Gardein) is paving the way to cruelty-free dinners.

Click here to read/purchase the report from Markets and Markets.

As has been highlighted in recent months, a number of nations are opting to “go green” by consuming more plant-based fare. Sweden is even considering implementing a meat tax!

This shift, according to researchers and celebrities, is essential, for the only way to prevent climate change from worsening is to curb meat and dairy consumption.

Thankfully, it’s now easier than ever to whip up delicious plant-based dinners and reap the benefits of choosing to make food your medicine.

Documentary on Adam Lanza, Sandy Hook Shooter Features Investigators Harrassed Over Newtown Work

A full length documentary has been released examining the inconsistent events reported about the December 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

WTF NEWS Newtown Archive

The documentary titled “The Life of Adam” is an investigation of the life of reported shooter Adam Lanza who is said to have shot and killed 26 people, including 20 young children.

The film was released Monday on Youtube by a group called Independent Media Solidarity. The group is a loose collection of acquaintances who consider themselves independent journalists, some of whom accept credit in the project under an alias. One notable name the alternative media will recognize is James Tracy, former Florida Atlantic University professor who publicly questioned the official reports on the shooting at his website Memory Hole Blog.

About Media Solidarity
Independent Media Solidarity is a loose knit group of independent journalists that have come together to tackle the issue of Sandy Hook. We are normal people with normal lives, who have families, children, and jobs. Although many of us haven’t physically met each other, we are united. All we seek are answers to the many inconsistencies. But most importantly, we just want the truth made available to all who might seek it.

Whether the group will continue to collaborate in areas unrelated to the Sandy Hook event is unknown at this time.

The video is a clear account of the shootings from the start which exposes conflicting information in official evidence, documents, the final police report, news broadcasts, and other authentic details related to Adam Lanza. The complex issues that have confused many about the shootings are answered in this video.

Shooter was Ryan Lanza (Brother)
Nancy (Mother) was a teacher at Sandy Hook
Adam carrying Ryan’s ID (Brother)
Peter Lanza, Father, was killed in house in New Jersey
Adam Lanza was in an altercation at the school the day before.

The following timeline of the December 14, 2012 mass killing of 20 children and 8 adults in Newtown Connecticut attempts to demonstrate how the event was presented to the public by corporate news media. The chronological assemblage of coverage is not comprehensive of all reports published on the incident but rather seeks to verify how the storyline was to a substantial degree constructed by federal and state law enforcement authorities and major media around the theory that 20-year-old Adam Lanza was the sole agent in the massacre.

Big Oil Conquered the World in Just 150 Years – Here’s How

By The Rundown Live

Terence Newton | WakingTimes

This is how big oil conquered the world.

In the effort to find a cheaper source for kerosene, on Sunday, August 28th, 1859, “Colonel” Edwin Drake struck black gold in Titusville, Pennsylvania, in what was the world’s first oil well, thereby officially beginning the global oil revolution. It is predicted that in 2016 the world will an astounding, “worldwide average demand of nearly 96 million barrels of oil and liquid fuels per day – that works out to more than 35 billion barrels a year.” [1]

“Drake’s well proved that by drilling for it, oil could be found in abundance and produced cheaply. Overnight a whole new industry was born. Before long in millions of homes, farms and factories around the world, lamps would be lit with kerosene refined from West Pennsylvania crude.” [Source]

From that moment, the oil boom began and it was players like John D. Rockefeller who made the first fortunes in turning West Pennsylvania crude into a product that would fuel the world.

Today, there is no doubt that the oil industry is the most powerful economic and development force in the world, and with the recent developments in fracking, the industry is still expanding. There are now over 1.1 million active gas and oil wells in the United States alone, and citizens are beginning to wake up to the reality that oil companies have more rights within the law than ordinary citizens do, and the struggle to stop the oil industry’s advances into our communities is escalating.

Disasters like the Deepwater Horizon and countless other spills, train-wrecks, pipeline explosions and leaks make quick circulation in the news and in disaster struck areas, corporate police prohibit media coverage and even impede public clean up efforts. In the wilds of Canada the Tar Sands oil operations are scorching unfathomable tracts of wilderness. It is as though oil companies literally own the environment and can do as they please without any meaningful repercussions.

Aside from the impact that the oil and gas industry has on our communities and the environment, the world is now geo-strategically organized around the collection and domination of oil resources. The Middle East has been deliberately destabilized in the war on terror and is being taken over by oil companies escorted into no-man’s-lands by private military contractors.

Dictators like the those in the House of Saud are propped up and are free to roam the world with ridiculously lavish riches, entirely above the law. Even the escalating and complicated struggle with ISIS is now entangled in the dramatic and very lucrative oil trade. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently delivered on his promise to provide evidence of how Turkey and other nations are supporting ISIS by knowingly conducting trade with the terrorist organization.

“If you want to rule the world you need to control the oil. All the oil. Anywhere.” -Michel Collon, Monopoly

The oil industry is also well-known for its monopolistic tactics in preventing the proliferation of energy technologies that could offer alternatives to oil, or to make our oil usage much more efficient than it is now.

How was our entire world and culture so thoroughly dominated by the oil industry in just over 150 years?

Recently released, a new documentary film by James Corbett of the Corbett Report brings to light the lesser known and more obscure parts of the quest to bring oil to market and change the course of human history, dubbing it the ‘Rise of the Oiligarchy. It is a new must-see documentary that brings extraordinary perspective to our troubled world.

OPEC Predicts Oil Prices WILL NOT Return To Triple Digits Until 2040: “Strikingly Bearish”

By The Rundown Live

Thumbnail for 250209

Mac Slavo | SHTFPlan

With oil trading under $40 and threatening to unhinge the entire industry from Texas to Russia, analysts the world over are working overtime to predict what happens next. Some, like financial investment firm Goldman Sachs, say the price could go as low as $20 per barrel because of a major supply glut evidenced by the scores of full oil tankers anchored off the coast of the United States and elsewhere. At the same time, others suggest the next spike to $100 could be just around the corner.

This week the Organization for the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which essentially controls the supplies behind the majority of the world’s oil production and has thus far refused to reduce oil output, released a report indicating that low oil prices are here to stay and that it could be at least two decades before prices return to triple digit levels:

The OPEC published its World Oil Outlook 2015 (WOO) in late December, which struck a much more pessimistic note on the state of oil markets than in the past. On the one hand, OPEC does not see oil prices returning to triple-digit territory within the next 25 years, a strikingly bearish conclusion. The group expects oil prices to rise by an average of about $5 per year over the course of this decade, only reaching $80 per barrel in 2020. From there, it sees oil prices rising slowly, hitting $95 per barrel in 2040.

Long-term projections are notoriously inaccurate, and oil prices are impossible to predict only a few years out, let alone a few decades from now. Priced modeling involves an array of variables, and slight alterations in certain assumptions – such as global GDP or the pace of population growth – can lead to dramatically different conclusions. So the estimates should be taken only as a reference case rather than a serious attempt at predicting crude prices in 25 years. Nevertheless, the conclusion suggests that OPEC believes there will be adequate supply for quite a long time, enough to prevent a return the price spikes seen in recent years.

Part of that has to do with what OPEC sees as a gradual shift towards efficiency and alternatives to oil.

Full Report at

On the surface the current environment suggests that OPEC’s assessment may be somewhat accurate. Yet, one can’t help but think that maybe OPEC is playing mind games with the U.S. shale industry, which blossomed over the last few years as prices skyrocketed, creating more demand for jobs, housing and arguably being the single biggest economic driver since the crash of 2008.

With the shale industry now in shambles and many companies heavily indebted and holding on for dear life, OPEC may be signaling that they and they alone will control the price of oil going forward. It is quite possible that their intended goal is to force U.S. shale producers to close up shop because it will not be cost-effective for them to continue operations.

That, of course, bodes well for middle east and African producers in OPEC, who have seen some of their market share stripped during the North American oil resurgence in recent years. But as Art Berman recently pointed out via Zero Hedge it appears that the entire industry has lost its mind and the current over-supply could well be a transient event.

All it would take is the right shooting war or geo-political crisis and the tables will turn almost instantaneously:

All oil producers are losing money at current prices but companies and countries are producing at high rates. Indebted conventional and unconventional players need cash flow to service debt so they are producing at high rates. OPEC is producing at high rates to maintain or gain market share. Everyone is acting rationally from their own perspective but from a high level, it looks like they have all lost their minds.

Peak oil is not about running out of oil. It is about what happens when the supply of conventional oil begins to decline. Once this happens, higher-cost, lower-quality sources of oil become increasingly necessary to meet global demand.

Tight oil has bought the U.S. another decade or so of additional oil supply but, as peak oil predicted, at a cost. The technology behind tight oil has also made it the world’s most expensive barrel. As all of this sinks in, perception will start to change. Analysts and investors will begin to see that data points more toward long-term scarcity than toward long-term abundance of oil supply.

The U.S. is far more economically vulnerable and dependent on foreign oil today than when crude oil export was banned 40 years ago. The world has finite oil resources and the production party of the last 5 years has accelerated the timing of peak global production. A shooting war in the world would bring all of this into instantaneous focus if the data presented here has not.

For the astute observer it appears that the price collapse in oil was nothing more than machinations by the global oil cartel. Price swings, even significant price swings, are to be expected. Follow the money and the timing of the most recent oil collapse for example, and you’ll no doubt notice that prices happened to markedly buckle at almost the exact same time the United States initiated economic sanctions on Russia.

To put it in perspective, in July of 2008, just before the crash, oil prices were so high, supplies so tight and the crisis so severe that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called on President Bush to tap America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserves. At the time a gallon of gas averaged over $4 and the price of oil peaked at $145 per barrel.

Six months later oil was trading at $30.

So, the question remains, is OPEC’s analysis legitimate or are the low price estimates intentional with the goal of scaring non-OPEC producers out of the market?

Whatever the case, we find it difficult to believe oil prices have finally stabilized, especially considering geo-political tensions and the disheveled state of the global economy.

One crisis is all it will take for oil to hit triple digits again and there is a strong likelihood that such an event will take place well before OPEC’s 2040 target date.

It’s Time We Start Calling ‘Civil Asset Forfeiture’ What it Really Is – ‘Armed Robbery by Police’

By TheRundownLive

Eva Decesare | FreeThoughtProject

Three years ago a couple was stopped by an armed gang and robbed of over $100,000. The facts are not in dispute. The perpetrators are known. And yet the criminals have not been punished, and the property has not been recovered. Why? Because the perpetrators wear badges.

Since late 2012, when Adam and Jennifer Perry were robbed by the Illinois State Police, they have been trying to retrieve their stolen property. It has been a challenge, however, because when “law enforcers” rob you, it’s not (according to them) a crime.

The Perry’s were pulled over for speeding on I-80 in Henry County, Illinois, on their way to see a specialist about Adam’s ear infection. When a police dog “indicated” to the vehicle (something dogs can easily be trained to do on command, yet something that police claim is “probable cause” to do a search), police searched the car, without a warrant or consent.

Between Jennifer’s wallet and a suitcase in the vehicle, police found $107,520 in cash, which the police promptly stole. Law enforcers like to refer to such things as “seizures,” but since the cash was neither evidence of a crime, nor was it contraband, to use the legal term (“seizure”) is dishonest and inaccurate. Nothing illegal was found in the vehicle, and the Perrys were never charged with any crime. So the correct term for what the police did is “armed robbery.” (The Illinois State thieves eventually handed over the stolen loot to a bigger gang of thieves, the federal government.) And such highway robbery is not at all uncommon.

It is standard operating procedure for badge-wearing pirates to simply allege that money might be connected to something illegal (like narcotics), and then steal the money based on a wild guess. In a direct, obvious violation of the “due process” clause of the Fifth Amendment, victims of such robbery must then prove their innocence in order to have any chance of retrieving their stolen property. The state thugs don’t need to prove anything.

Aside from the cash, police also stole the family’s Toyota Tundra.

“I even begged and said please just give me my truck back and you can keep the money and ill (sic) walk away from it. Still denied,” Mr. Perry wrote in a letter to the court. “You don’t understand the emotional, physical and financial terrorism you have caused.”

In spite of being robbed at gunpoint by agents of the state, the couple remains resolute in the notion that they are not required to prove their innocence to get their money back.

“This is not Nazi Germany where you can treat people like this,” he wrote.

According to the Washington Post, one federal “civil forfeiture” program included almost 62,000 examples of direct robbery (over 1,700 of them in Illinois), in situations where there was no warrant, and the owners of the cash were not charged with any crime. When you have badge-wearing pirates routinely committing armed robbery against thousands of Americans, with no charges and no trial, it becomes undeniable who the Bullies in Blue really “protect and serve.” And it isn’t you.

“Zero Confidence”: 8 In 10 Americans Think Obama Is Losing To ISIS

By The Rundown Live

Thumbnail for 250155

Mac Slavo | SHTFPlan

Who says the terrorists aren’t winning against our freedoms?

With Obama in office, it may be a certainty.

Nearly 15 years after the 9/11 attacks, the United States is weaker than ever, and it has perhaps dug its own grave engaging in protracted conflicts and wars in the name of hunting down terrorists.

According to a new poll, Americans today see their country as losing the battle against terror despite having the most powerful military in the world.

Apparently only 2 in 10 Americans think the U.S. is winning the war on terror, and see the ISIS Islamic State as holding the upper hand. In terms of public opinion, it may as well be zero.

The hearts and minds have been lost – right here at home.

According to the Daily Mail:

Americans believe more than ever that the terrorists are winning the war on terror.

In a new CNN/ORC poll, just 18 percent of Americans surveyed said the U.S. and its allies were ahead in the terror fight, with 40 percent now saying the terrorists have the upper hand.

The numbers are almost completely flopped from when the question was first asked, just one month after the 9/11 terror attacks.

Then, 42 percent said the U.S. was winning the war on terror, while 11 percent said the terrorists were dominating the fight.

Those numbers have bobbed up and down through the years, but this latest poll showed the most dramatic spike in public opinion, as Americans have grown increasingly concerned about ISIS in light of the attacks in San Bernardino, California and Paris, France.

If the poll numbers truly reflect the pulse of the nation, it indicates that a full three-fourths of the country believe Obama is failing, and that the American fight against terrorism – now well into its second decade – is all but doomed.

‘Zero Confidence’

Of course, the strategy (or lack thereof) to combat ISIS and deal with the Syrian crisis has many Americans expressing “zero confidence” in President Obama – enough that the ORC polling people found a major spike and shift in public opinion:

Now the largest chunk of Americans says they’re not at all satisfied with the way things are going as the country deals with this threat.

… 64 percent said they disapproved of Obama’s handling of ISIS, a number which has remained constant for the past six months.

The spike comes from those who say they have zero confidence in the current White House, with 30 percent now giving that response, up from the 16 percent who said it in 2010.

President Obama has long been a polarizing figure, but a significant “zero confidence” number is a pretty harsh rebuke, and a sure sign that policy is headed for a major shift under the next president, regardless of party.

As a result of the failures to stop the spread of ISIS in the contentious areas of Iraq and Syria, many Americans have in turn supported the knee jerk reaction to send in U.S. ground troops and engage in yet another war in the Middle East.

There is more war in the air, and the weakness of the current president has done much to contribute to that climate.

Immoral Patsy – How the FBI Groomed Mentally Disabled Teen With a 51 IQ into an “ISIS Terrorist”

By TheRundownLive

Thumbnail for 250153

William N. Grigg | FreeThoughtProject

It isn’t clear what use ISIS or the Pakistani Taliban would have for an 18-year-old American student with an estimated IQ of 51, is marginally verbal, and has little ability to perform routine tasks like tying his shoelaces. Peyton Pruitt, described by family and school officials as a developmentally stunted child, displays little understanding of terrorism and has no skills a terrorist group would covet. However, he is able to participate in online chats, which made him an irresistible target for FBI agents trolling the web in search of patsies to cast in Homeland Security Theater productions.

Although Pruitt is unable to use the bathroom without assistance, the FBI and the St. Clair, Alabama Sheriff’s Office are pretending that he was part of a plot to provide “material assistance to terrorism” on the basis of online conversations with FBI agents posing as recruiters for ISIS and the Taliban. He remains incarcerated in the St. Clair County Jail on $1 million bond.

Following an evidentiary hearing on December 22, Judge Alan Furr refused to reduce the bond and referred the case to a grand jury. In what might be an indication of the case, the FBI, rather than seeking charges under a federal statute, is assisting the effort to prosecute Pruitt under an Alabama state anti-terrorism statute.

Anthony Pruitt, Peyton’s father, told the judge that he had given his son a laptop computer for Christmas last year. The teenager had been part of a program for handicapped people at the E.H. Gentry Technical Center – a school for deaf and blind children — until last May, when his father withdrew him. It was during his time at Gentry that Peyton was lured into compromising internet conversations with FBI agents. The father didn’t know anything about that activity until his son’s arrest in November.

If he had known that his son was being trolled by federal agents posing as terrorist recruiters, Anthony Pruitt testified, “I would have gone to the school, smashed his computer into a billion pieces and grounded him for life.” Owing to the legal expenses involved in trying to protect his son, Pruitt explained, he has “lost everything – my home, my land, my job.”

As a younger child, Peyton was diagnosed with “Mental Retardation, Intellectual Disability, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and Attention Deficit Disorder.” Educators have described him as an invalid who cannot distinguish between reality and fantasy.

During the probable cause hearing, prosecutors argued that Pruit was reading bomb-making instructions in al Qaeda’s online magazine, Inspire, and communicating with people identified as overseas jihadis – by way of a messaging service called Wickr — about potential sites for an attack. Prosecutors insist that they were shown a considerable amount of information during a meeting with the regional FBI director, but that supposed evidence was not presented during the pre-trial hearing.

During that hearing, defense attorney Gibson Holladay asked investigator Tommy Dixon: “All you’ve got is Peyton’s statement [following his arrest], right? You couldn’t tell me if Peyton contacted Santa Claus or a terrorist, can you? Was it a bomb or a recipe for banana pudding? You don’t know, do you?”

In cross-examining defense witness Helen Waldrop, an employee at the Gentry Center, St. Clair County District Attorney Richard Minor insinuated, without directly claiming, that Peyton “could quote the Koran” and had accessed an encrypted website. Assuming those statements to be true, neither would constitutes actual evidence of a crime or criminal intent, and both could reflect efforts of FBI provocateurs to manipulate the suggestible young man into doing something that would fit the familiar Homeland Security Theater narrative.

The FBI employs a large number of agents who specialize in talent-scouting marginalized and emotionally troubled young men and – using skills similar to other child predators – luring them into pre-scripted “terrorism plots.” In one such case, that of the “Newburgh Four” in New Jersey, the trial revealed the use of a Pakistani career criminal named Shahed Hussain, who was described, on the record, by a federal prosecutor as a “terrorism facilitator.”

Craig Monteilh, a convict-turned-FBI “terrorism facilitator,” has described that procedure in a civil rights lawsuit he filed against the agency. About a decade ago, Monteilh was approached by two FBI agents who explained that they acted “pursuant to a National Security Directive called OPERATION FLEX, which was signed by President Bush as executive order #12356.” In exchange for assistance with his legal troubles, Montielh was recruited for the purpose of “organizing terrorist activities, making reference to `jihad’ (Holy War) and organizing terrorist plots and activities.”

His chief assignment was “to infiltrate and spy on the activities of the members of the [Irvine, California] Mosque in an effort to uncover potential terrorists and plots against the Government. He was instructed by his handlers to act in a manner that suggested that he was a terrorist.… His actions made many of the members of the Mosque uncomfortable and the Attorney for the Mosque … contacted him in an effort to get him to stop attending regular prayers.” (Emphasis added.)

Disturbed by Monteilh’s efforts to promote violence and incite terrorism, several people who attended the mosque, working with CAIR, contacted the FBI. Rather than thanking them for their vigilance, the FBI targeted one of them – an Afghan refugee named Amadullah Sais Niazi – for retaliation, accusing him of lying about a distant relative in a naturalization application and threatening him with prison unless he, too, became an informant.

Nearly every “terrorist plot” supposedly foiled by the FBI since 2002 has followed this script, or some variation on it. When our supposed protectors go to such lengths to entrap and prosecute mentally retarded teenagers, it’s difficult to believe we face an existential terrorist threat.
